Hello! I’m Sara Kirkpatrick

I am a freelance writer based in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. When I am not soaking up the sun at the beach, I report and edit for The Virgin Islands Daily News, a Pulitzer-Prize winning daily newspaper serving the U.S. Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands.

Originally from Laramie, Wyoming, I relocated to St. Thomas in 2019, after earning a B.A. in journalism and environment and natural resources from the University of Wyoming. 

Since joining The Daily News in 2020 my passion for delivering local news has flourished.  From a hall-of-fame diver to a man who proudly wore his crown, I’ve had the honor to connect with my community and share meaningful stories. 

I specialize in environmental science stories and have extensively reported on marine research in the territory. 

As a freelance writer, my work has been featured in U.S. News & World Report Travel and Destination Magazine. I look forward to connecting with each client and collaborating to produce engaging and concise content to best serve their needs.
